We had another lovely day tidying up at the Woodland Trail on Saturday 5th May. We shovelled more bark chippings for the new path surface, and did a Spring tidy before the Pre-School’s Nature Hunt on 12th. Several children busied themselves with dens and bugs, and it was lovely to see the sunshine after our previous outing.
On 12th May the Pre-School held its Nature Hunt. Lots of families, including some grandparents, wound their way across the school field following the pebble trail into the woodland, searched for flowers in bloom in the orchard and identified them on their sheets, rummaged for creepy-crawlies with the help of our ‘bug expert’, Chris Spilling, and tried bark-rubbing and stamping. It was a great opportunity to introduce more people to the Parish Council’s greatest secret- do go and have a look for yourself before all the apple blossom goes ! There are plans afoot for a Wassail in the orchard next Christmas – look out for further details.
