Rights of Way Survey – Results Published

Footpath sign

The Council has now formally published the results of the Rights of Way Survey.

This survey was undertaken following the approval, in principle, of the Parish Council for the use of an SLA, with DCC, to maintain the important rights of way in the parish.

Given cost-cutting changes being made at Dorset County Council, leading to reduction in funding and support for footpaths in the area, the Council agreed that Ian Vaughan-Arbuckle, (previous RoWLO) should undertake a survey of footpaths in the parish, identifying paths, stiles and gates in need of maintenance, ranking these in terms of priority, and establishing who has responsibility for their upkeep. The new RoWLO, Mr Christopher Hedley, is following up the work done by DCC under the Service Level Agreement and working on plans for a volunteer system for footpath management in the parish; he can be contacted at 07941 685449 or email jcwhed@virginmedia.com
